Starting my new build, a small diorama featuring a Guncannon and a Zaku :

So far both kits a test fitted and planning has begun for the scene (which will be a semi-serious semi-light hearted one) and possible modifications to the Guncannon to suit the scene.

Why did I first notice this WIP just now? That looks wicked! If it is anything like your Hard Graph dio it will be seriously kickass. I love the idea of snow dioramas as well, there are some great ones over at Sogni di Gundam that are absolutely inspiring. What are you planning to use for the snow?

So that is a new FG Zaku II? As in newly designed? It looks like a really fun build. I might have to pick one up next year sometime.

I'm not entirely convinced that snow is the best thing for this scene. I'm thinking maybe an autumn scene with different colored trees and lots of fallen leaves on the ground. The snow might have to wait for another time. We'll see how things pan out.

Yes, it is the new FG Zaku. As far as I am aware, it is newly designed. The mobility is less than a HGUC (obviously) but more than the previous FG models (especially the SEED FGs).

"newly" as in nine years ago - the original "First Grade" kits were released in '99 for Gundam's 20th anniversary. Sculpt-wise they're scale-downs of the Perfect Grade kits.

I plan to have the Zaku done over the weekend - I'll see how I go, nothing ever pans out like I want!

It's partly weathered now. I just have to finish off the chips and melted parts and then I can move onto the Guncannon.

Geez, that looks really good for an FG. If it didn't have those blocky hands I'd think it was an HGUC.

It will look better once I do the chipping and dry brushing. You wont even notice the blocky hand either once it's holding the gun.

FG is prettier than HGUC anyway, IMO... HGUC Zaku is pretty bland, really...
