HID Conversion

March 5, 2010: This is a quick installation for upgrading the current head lamp bulbs to High-intensity discharge (HID) xenon gas lamps, which are much brighter than the lights that come with the car. My old tC had retrofitted head lights with HIDs that replaced the reflector lamps with projectors. Starting with the 2008 tCs the lights have projectors, so to upgrade them to us HIDs works quite well as opposed to just placing the HID bulbs in a reflector housing. The HID kit comes with bulbs and ballasts.

My car with the projector housing, and original lights and the cut off as seen against the back of my garage wall.

The original bulb is on the left with the HID bulb on the right.

New bulbs are in place.

The new cut off. The bulbs are 8000k bulbs which give off a blue tint, and when they first turn on, they're really blue, but whiten up as it warms up.
